| Reason(s) for change | Surname of biological father who mother was married to. Mother separated from biological father when I was 12 months old. Mother met her partner shortly after (surname Flanagan). Married several years later. The advice given to my mother at the time from the registry office in Sheffield was I would be fine to be known as Flanagan and it did not need changing legally. In 2019 it came to light during a DBS check that I did not declare a previous surname. This is something I have never done as my passport, driving license, mortgage, marriage and any other legal documentation states my name as Flanagan. On the 26/06/2019, I went to the Sheffield Magistrates Court to change my surname by law in order to ensure that all documentation I have is legally bound. |
